Purpose of the Job
This position is a graduate trainee position that aims to give focused workplace experience to recent graduates.
Duties & Responsibilities
The programme will entail gaining experience and competence in functional areas of the business as below:
Customer Services
- Demonstrate an understanding of the role of the customer services function in the Corruseal Business model.
Design
- Understand the information required by the design team to design a new box or to innovate an existing box.
Procurement
- Understand and adhere to procurement related standard operating procedures.
- Understand the process to procure raw materials used in the corrugated packaging manufacturing process (lead times, etc).
Inbound Logistics and Warehousing
- Demonstrate understanding of and adherence to inbound logistics and warehousing standard operating procedures and related documentation and process flows.
- Conduct stock checks and counts regarding raw materials.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all materials kept in the warehouse (paper types and grades, chemicals, etc)
- Control and monitor pallets (condition, usage/availability, customer returns)
- Co-ordinate delivery of materials with suppliers and transporter.
- Prepare and analyse various reports as used in the section or issued to other sections/departments.
- Control warehousing and WIP functions Plan and organize the warehouse layout in such a way that stock can be managed efficiently, and vehicles loaded quickly and correctly.
Production Planning
- Demonstrate understanding of the role of the production planner.
- Demonstrate understanding of requirements and checks to be carried out before communicating the production plan (e.g. checking raw material stocks, etc)
- Communicate with required parties as necessary to ensure the plan can be delivered.
- Plan Corrugator Production to meet internal and external customer demand.
- Make suitable quick changes to the plan within a short space of time
Outbound Logistics and Despatch
- Demonstrate understanding of and adherence to outbound logistics and despatch standard operating procedures and related documentation and process flow.
- Demonstrate an understanding of various aspects of load planning (truck utilisation, pallet loading, weight restrictions, time and fuel economy, legal requirements, etc).
- Plan and co-ordinate customer deliveries.
- Conduct finished goods stock checks and counts.
- Understand and control redundant and aged stock in the Finished Goods area.
- Manage OTIF in terms of customer deliveries and monitor adherence to plan
- Identify areas of non-conformance or adherence to the supply plan, investigate causes and implement solutions (e.g. left-behinds, delivery problems, etc.).
- Prepare and analyse various reports as used in the section or issued to other sections/departments
Supply Chain Management
Manage and lead a team of managers and non-managers.
Demonstrate financial acumen and ability to carry out financial planning and budgeting.
Demonstrate an understanding of the criticality of adhering to the supply plan (daily, weekly, monthly) and its impacts to the business.
Manage a function/department.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Relevant Degree NQF 7 Qualification (B-Tech Degree: Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering) or similar equivalent and relevant qualification
- One (1) year inbound, outbound, inventory and warehousing experience is an advantage.
- Experience in the FMCG industry is an advantage.
