INVENTORY CONTROLLER

REPORTING TO          : ENGINEERING MANAGER

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To receive, issue, and store all spares, engineering stocks, packing materials, machine clothing, raw materials, special goods, and capital equipment in recognised stores located on the plant premises. To provide line support to all departments

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Planning, organising and controlling of annual wall-to-wall stock takes.
• Investigate and resolve all stock variances.
• Ensure compliance with issuing and receiving procedures, including retables.
• Identify redundant stock, tag items and get authorisation for write-offs or sales.
• Process new stock requests through an approval process and allocate bins or storage areas.
• Compile and maintain training matrix for the department.
• Ensure effective performance management and objectives setting as required.
• Compile and update weekly and monthly department reports.
• Compile and update monthly reports for the Finance Department for items received and issued out.
• Monitor service to end-users by means of out-of-stock records daily.
• Compile and update stock-take variances report on a day-to-day basis.
• Maintain minimum and maximum stock levels of all stock items to ensure that the correct stock is kept in the store.

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Computer Literate with experience in MS Office, DMS and ABACA.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good administrative skills.
• Understanding of manufacturing inventory management systems.
• Self-motivated and able to work under pressure, act professionally and make decisions independently.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to technical excellence.
• Ability to lead a team.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

• Matric
• Inventory Management Diploma or any related qualification.
• 2 to 5 years’ experience in technical and/ or manufacturing environment.
