REPORTING TO        : TEAMLEADER- MECHANICAL WORKSHOP

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To conduct rolls maintenance in the Mill effectively and efficiently. Maximize equipment availability through the application of preventative maintenance, Lean Manufacturing, World Class Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement techniques

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carries out scheduled tasks to prevent deterioration of the function of the equipment, to detect deterioration of the function of equipment and prevent failure of the equipment.
• Performs tasks to meet the requirements of the OHS ACT and other applicable legislation that has an impact on maintenance.
• Performs Corrective maintenance where further action needs to be taken and can include breakdown and break-in work.
• Develops works procedure, tasks list and BOP’s (Best Operating Practices).
• Acts as a tutor to develop apprentices and newly appointed Grinderman.
• Assists with controlling maintenance budgets.
• Ensures all work performed is within the standards provided
• Completes QCP once work is completed, and ensures all relevant information is logged on the logbooks provided
• Assists rigger to do roll and equipment changes on the grinding machine.
• Attends all courses when nominated for skill improvement.
• Performs BBS observations as per weekly target set.
• Performs Shut and standby duties.
• Performs static balancing and crack testing on all grinding wheels.
• Complies with all SHEQ policies and requirements.
• Assists with hazard identification/ risk assessments.
• Obtains works permit for any work that requires to be done.
• Performs Fitting and Turning duties as and when required by supervisor.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

• N4 plus Trade Qualification (Grinder/ Fitter & Turner).
• Three (3) years’ experience, post qualification as a Grinder in a manufacturing environment.
• Must be technically inclined / understanding of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment is required
• Roll Grinding experience is advantageous.
