PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide Production Line Management with trained Process Controllers, Operators (skilled and unskilled) in terms of identified needs. Competence to be achieved by training, facilitation of training, theoretical and practical testing and assessment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Training needs analysis
- Regularly reviews work Instructions and SOPs to ensure relevance, accuracy and compliance in conjunction with the plant unit managers.
- Develops, reviews and sustains the quality of the training manuals.
- Designs training materials that reflect company developments.
- Identifies personal development requirements to maintain application knowledge.
- Assists in analysing and improving organizational processes, and work to improve quality, productivity, streamlining, internal controls and efficiency in training operations.
- Develops and maintain a matrix of the skill level for Supervisory, skilled and semi-skilled employees of the business unit.
Planning /Scheduling
- Builds and delivers engaging training sessions that enhance the capability of a team with diverse skills, experiences and capabilities across a range of services, support and program areas.
- Develops, supplies and maintains training and induction material for all Production Foremen, Process Controllers and operator positions and facilitate the analysis of all semi-skilled and unskilled jobs for training purposes.
- Plans and implements new training developments and projects to satisfy business requirements.
- Adheres to training standards and assessment practices in accordance with SHEQ Management System and NQF requirements, in consultation with Line Management
- Trains or facilitates the training of all identified employees from the mill management.
Reporting
- Creates and maintains written and electronic training records.
- Reports training progress in writing to line management on a monthly basis.
- Ensures record keeping of all training documentation (registers, assessments, Competence confirmation/ certification).
Continuous Improvement
- Evaluates training results and assist line management with the determining and analysis of training needs.
- Applies value chain and improvement tools
- Shares manufacturing development initiatives using appropriate channels.
- Updates knowledge of training, training methods and techniques by attending relevant courses and sourcing other training units.
- Determines ways of evaluating training through test result, feedback and evaluation
- Attends Business Unit meetings to support people development in the sections concerned
Safety
- Promotes, adheres to and implements systems relating to safety, health, environment and quality. Such systems include, but are not limited to, ISO 9001, ISO 14000 and CAP (S-H-E-Q) systems.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
A qualification in Training & Development or any related field
2 -3 years of experience as a Trainer in manufacturing
